1 Cup shortening
1½ Cups sugar
3 Eggs
3 Cups unsifted flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
½ salt
1 (9 oz) package none such condensed mincemeat crumbled

Directions:
Directions:
Preheat oven to 375º

In large mixer bowl, beat shortening and sugar until fluffy. Add eggs; beat well. Stir together dry ingredients; gradually add to shortening mixture. Mix well. Stir in mincemeat crumbles.

Drop by rounded teaspoonfuls, 2 inches apart, onto greased baking sheets. Bake 8 to 10 minutes or until lightly browned. Cool. Frost if desired.

This recipe was made every year of my childhood at Christmas. It makes a nice spicy cookie that is unusual and everyone loves. This recipe also makes a lot of cookies if you are gifting it is a perfect recipe to fill boxes. We never iced them.
