1 stick butter
1 stick margarine
½ cup crisco
3 cups sugar
5 eggs
3 cups flour
1 cup milk
1 tsp fresh lemon
1 tsp vanilla
pinch salt

Directions:
Directions:
Cream shortening (butter, marjarine and crisco) in large bowl. Add sugar
gradually. Add eggs one at a time and beat well. Add sifted flour and milk Add lemon and vanilla and mix well. Pour batter into a well greased and floured tube pan.
Put in cold oven and heat to 300º for two hours!

Christmas or New Year celebrations I always made this cake.
We always considered it tradition and good luck for the new year to come.

I would mix this recipe without a mixer. Care taken if you do use a mixer.
There could be too much air in the cake and it may fall! A challenge.
