1 cup water
2 cups raisins
1 cup shortening
1 ¾ cup sugar
2 eggs slightly beaten
1 tsp vanilla
3 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
1 tsp baking soda
1 tsp baking powder
1 tsp salt
½ tsp cinnamon
½ tsp nutmeg
½ cup walnuts (optional)

Directions:

1. Combine raisins and water, bring to a boil. Cook for 3 min then cool in a mixing
bowl. Do not drain

2. Cream the shortening, gradually add sugar, add eggs 1 at a time and beat. Add
vanilla

3. Combine dry ingredients, add to creamed mixture and blend well.

4. Stir in raisins and walnuts.

5. Drop mixture in tsp full on greased baking sheet, 2 inches apart. Bake for 12 to 14
min or until golden brown.
