1/2 c sugar
1 T cornstarch
1/8 tsp nutmeg
1/8 tsp allspice
1/3 c water

Fruit:

Directions:
Directions:
Cook sauce until thickens slightly.

Chop fruit just before serving
Mix cooled sauce over it.

Often, we double the sauce recipe- this family loves sugar.

Serve every year at family meals (this is on the recipe card!)

Personal Notes:
Personal Notes:
I guessed at the celery amount, the recipe states "All tender celery" and when I measured, it was about 1/2 to 3/4 c if you took it from a fresh celery stalk.

One year, David made this, and cooked it too long, so the sauce went hard, and my mom remembers that as a fond memory, and after reminds everyone not to boil the sauce too long!
