"As I ate the oysters with their strong taste of the sea and their faint metallic taste that the cold white wine washed away, leaving only the sea taste and the succulent texture, and as I drank their cold liquid from each shell and washed it down with the crisp taste of the wine, I lost the empty feeling and began to be happy, and to make plans."--Ernest Hemingway

Directions:
Mix together flour, shortening, b powder, and salt. Add milk until it comes together as a dough. Roll out on a floured surface to 1/4” thick.
Peel and dice apples and add cinnamon butter and b sugar. Spread on top of the dough and roll up like a jelly roll. Slice and put into a baking pan.
For the sauce combine sugar, flour, salt, adding butter and hot water in a pan on the stovetop until it thickens. Pour over the dumplings and put into a preheated oven of 350 for 30 minutes.
I usually double the sauce for pouring onto the dumplings afterwards.
