CAKE

1/2 Cup shortening (I use butter and a little dab of extra butter)
1 1/2 Cup sugar
2 Eggs, beaten
1 Cup mashed ripe banana (A little extra extra doesn't make any difference in result)
4 Tablespoons buttermilk (If the batter seams too thick add another spoon to mix)
1 teaspoon baking powder
1 teaspoon baking soda
dash of salt
1 3/4 Cups flour

FROSTING

1/2 Cup shortening (I use butter)
2 1/2 Tablespoon flour
Mix in saucepan and bring to boil.
Add
1 Cup brown sugar
1/2 Cup milk
Bring to boil and boil 1 minute. Cool mixture.
ADD
2 Cups powdered sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla


Directions:

Mix cake ingredients together.

Pour into prepared baking pan.

When cool frost and sprinkle nuts on top.

This was one of my mother's favorite cakes.

I did 2 cups of bananas - makes it better.

This is the best cake ever!!!

I bake in single layers (Pyrex) & don't stack.
