1 cup sugar
5 TBS of butter
1 cup raisins
2 cups flour
2 cups water
1 tsp baking soda
2 tsps cinnamon
1 tsp nutmeg (scant)

Directions:
Directions:
Heat oven to 350º
Cook raisins in 2 cups water until only 1 cup of liquid remains. Set aside to cool.
Cream butter and sugar together; add raisins and remaining liquid.. Sift dry ingredients and and add them to the batter. Pour into a 10 x 8 inch pan that is greased & floured. Bake for 30 min

This cake really is better if you do your creaming and mixing with a wooden spoon. Seems like beating in a mixer, makes is tough. An old favorite of my kids and all the Wood kids. Serve warm with a slab of butter on top. Enjoy
