Layer 1:
4 (1 oz.) squares unsweetened chocolate
⅓ cup shortening
2 cups brown sugar
3 eggs
1 tsp. mint extract
1¼ cups flour
1 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. salt

Layer 2:
3-4 tbsp. milk
3 to 3½ cups powdered sugar
¾ cup butter or margarine, softened
3-4 drops green food coloring
1 tsp. mint extract

Layer 3:
4 tbsp. butter or margarine
8 oz. chocolate chips

Layer 1:
Melt chocolate and shortening in large sauce pan. Remove from heat and add sugar, eggs and 1 tsp. mint extract. Blend well. Sift flour, baking powder and salt together and add to mixture, mixing well. Bake in a greased 9x13x2 pan at 350º for 25-30 minutes. Cool.

Layer 2:
Combine and beat powdered sugar, 3/4 cup butter, milk, 1 tsp. mint extract and food coloring. Spread over first layer and chill.

Layer 3:
Melt chocolate chips and butter, blend and spread over layer 2. Chill and store in refrigerator.
