3 squares Unsweetened chocolate
2¼C Sifted Flour
2 tsp Baking Soda
½ tsp Salt
½C Butter (1 Stick)
2¼C Brown Packed Brown Sugar
3 Eggs
1 ½ tsp Vanilla
1C Sour Cream
1C Boiling water

Directions:
Directions:
(1) Preheat oven to 350.
(2) Grease & flour (can use cocoa) 2- 9” round cake pans. Line bottom of pans with wax paper.
(3) Melt and cool chocolate squares.
(4) Sift flour, baking soda and salt into a bowl.
(5) In a separate bowl beat butter until soft.
(6) Add Sugar and eggs beat until light and fluffy.
(7) Beat in vanilla & chocolate.
(8) Stir in dry ingredients alternating with sour cream. Combine well.
(9) Stir in boiling water to make the batter thin.
(10) Pour in pans.
(11) Bake for approx. 35 min (center of cake should spring back).
(12) Cool in pan on wire rack for 10 min.
(13) Loosen with spatula & put on wire rack to finish cooling.

Grami made this special for each person's birthday in our family. A birthday celebration would not be the same without it. She took so much time and attention to make each cake special for each family member decorating them with each person in mind.
