2 cups white sugar
1 ½ cups of soft butter or margarine
½ cup of molasses
2 beaten eggs
4 ½ cups sifted flour
3 tsp baking soda
½ tsp salt
2 tsp cinnamon
1 tsp cloves
1 tsp ginger
½ tsp nutmeg
extra white sugar for rolling cookie dough in

Directions:
Directions:
-Using mixer in a large bowl beat sugar, butter, molasses and eggs until very light and fluffy
-Mix together sifted flour, baking soda, salt and spices
-Slowly mix the wet and dry ingredients together to ensure the flour mixture is incorporated well
-Cover with plastic wrap tightly and refrigerate for 1 hour
-Heat oven to 350ºF
-Shape cookies into 1.5" balls
-Roll each ball in white sugar
-Place each cookie 2" apart on the pan
-Bake for 12-15 minutes
-Cookies will crack on top and this is a good sign
-Remove from oven and place on rack to cool
