melt together in a pot:
I cup of white lard
1 cup of molasses
4 squares of unsweetened chocolate *if you don't have any squares use,
3 tablespoons of cocoa and 1 tablespoon of melted butter, for each square, when this is melted, remove from heat and cool for 15 minutes.

Now add to the cooled mixture:
2 eggs
1 1/3 cup of brown sugar
Mix well and then add:
5 cups of flour one cup at a time)
1 teaspoon of baking soda
2 teaspoon of baking powder

Mix well together with a big spoon,
Roll out into slabs of 1/4 to 1/2 inch and cut into cookies,
or shape like a cylinder and freeze in Wax paper. No need to defrost to cut your cookies into slices.
Bake at 325 (F) for 12-20 minutes, Makes about 72 cookies.
