Ingredients:  
¾ c softened shortening (½ c Crisco & ¼ c butter)
1 c light brown sugar (packed)
1 egg
¼ c molasses
2 ¼ c flour
2 t baking soda
¼ t salt
½ t ground cloves
1 t cinnamon
1 t ginger

Directions:
Directions:
Mix: shortening, sugar, egg, and molasses

Stir in: dry ingredients

Chill dough

Heat oven to 375º

Roll dough into balls(walnut size) & dip tops in sugar

Place sugared side up on greased baking sheet

Sprinkle cookies with 2-3 drops of water each for a crackled surface

Bake 10-12 minutes
