½ c butter
¾ c sifted confectioners sugar
1 T vanilla
food coloring if desired
1½ c sifted flour
⅛ t salt

filling - maraschino cherries, dates, chocolate, nuts
icing
decoration - chopped nuts, coconut, colored sugar, chocolate pieces

Directions:
Directions:

Heat oven to 350º
Mix butter, sugar, vanilla, food coloring thoroughly.

Blend in flour and salt. If dry, add 1 to 2 T cream.

Wrap level T of dough around filling.

Place 1" apart on ungreased cookie sheet.

Bake 12-15 min until set - not brown.

Cool. Dip tops of cookies in icing. Decorate as desired.
