8 ounce package pitted dates
1/2 cup sugar
1 cup flaked coconut
4 T butter
1 egg slightly beaten
1 1/2 cups rice crispies
1/2 cup chopped nuts
1 t vanilla
red sugar and green royal frosting for decorating

Directions:
Directions:
In a skillet combine dates, coconut, butter, sugar, egg and salt. Cook and stir over a low heat till mixture thickens and bubbles (5-10 minutes). Remove from heat. Stir in rice crispies nuts and vanilla. Cool 10 minutes.
For each piece use a T of date mixture, form into a strawberry shape (moisten or grease fingers. Roll each berry in red sugar, trim with green frosting leaves.
