1 cup softened butter
1½ cup icing sugar
1 egg
1tsp vanilla
½ tsp almond extract
2½ cup flour
1 tsp baking soda
1 tsp cream of tartar

For Paint
Mix 1 egg yolk with ¼ tsp water.....divide and add food colouring
or use small amounts of evaporated milk.

Directions:
Directions:
Mix throughly butter, sugar, egg, and flavourings. Blend in flour, soda and cream of tartar. Cover and chill 2-3 hours.....or not.
Roll out dough and cut into shapes.
Paint gently with the "paint".
Place on light greased baking sheets.
Bake at 350º for 7 minutes or until slightly browned around the edge.

My Mum made these with us when we were kids. I've made them with my kids when they were little. I also made them with Clark and Emily's classes when they were in school. Now I'm making them with the grandkids.
