1/2 cup butter
1 cup brown or white sugar
2 cups flour
1/2 t cinnamon and ginger
1 egg
2 T molasses
1 cup milk -mix with 1 t baking soda

Directions:
Directions:
Combine sugar, butter, and flour with electric mixer, add ginger and cinnamon. Remove one cup of mixture and set aside to put on top of cake later. Add egg, molasses and sour milk to remainder of dry ingredients. Beat thoroughly and pour into 9" square pan and top with remainder of dry ingredients. Bake at 350º for 30 mins.
