1 cup granulated sugar
1 cup powdered sugar
1 cup margarine
1 cup oil
2 eggs (well beaten)
1 tsp. baking soda
2 tsp. vanilla
½ cup nuts (optional)
1 tsp. cream of tartar
5¼ cups flour

Directions:
Directions:
Preheat oven to 350º.
Mix first 5 ingredients well. Add next 4 ingredients. Mix.
Add flour and mix.
Chill for 15 minutes in refrigerator. Shape into 1-1½ inch balls.
Roll balls in sugar. Use a flat bottom glass or cup to mash balls to ¼ inch thick.
Dip glass or cup in sugar between each cookie.
Bake on cookie sheet for approximately 9 minutes. Do not over bake. It is better to to under bake. Should not be browned.
