Grandma's Beef Stew Recipe

2 lbs. stew beef (can use a little less)
½ cup flour
salt and pepper to taste
1 cup water
1 lg. bay leaf
2 cans tomato sauce (16 oz. total)
2 T grated parmesan cheese
4 carrots
4 potatoes
green beans
1 onion quartered


Amounts of beef, potato and carrots can vary

Directions:
Using brown paper bag, shake stew beef in flour.
Brown meat in oil. Add the water and bay leaf.
Simmer on low for 30 minutes.
Add tomato sauce, cheese, onions, carrots and potatoes
Simmer about 1 hour
Add green beans, simmer about 20 minutes more.

The longer the stew simmers on low, the better the flavors meld.

This recipe can also be prepared in a slow cooker. Brown the meat first, then assemble all the ingredients (except green beans) into cooker. Stir. Add beans about 30 minutes prior to the end.
