2 cups dry pinto beans, rinsed
12 cups water
4 strips raw or frozen bacon

After done cooking add:
1 tsp salt
1 cup shredded cheese

Directions:
Directions:
1. Rinse pinto beans and place them in the crockpot with water. Add bacon.

2. Cook on HIGH for 8 hours. After done cooking, remove strips of bacon and discard. Remove most of the liquid reserving around 1 cup in case you need too add it back in after mashing.

3. Use a potato masher or immersion blender to achieve desired consistency. Add small amounts of the reserved liquid back in to achieve desired consistency. Remember that the beans will thicken up a bit as they cool.

4. Taste the beans and add salt and shredded cheese to taste.

1/4 tsp garlic powder
1/4 tsp cumin
