"The most remarkable thing about my mother is that for thirty years she served the family nothing but leftovers. The original meal has never been found."--Calvin Trillin

Personal Notes:
Personal Notes:
"Grandma Eva loved her family more than anything and she loved to cook for them. This is one meal she is well known for and the one meal that she cooked for my dad when he was dating my mom that got him hooked. I am happy to say I can now cook it nearly as well as she did and it always brings back our memories of her each time we have it." - Christy Laneri

This recipe is such a favorite that Rose Laneri submitted it as well. These are her comments:
"Whenever Jim and I stopped to see Kathy's grandmother in California, she would make this for us. I watched her one day and wrote down the receipt but with our many moves I could not find the receipt.. Kathy was so gracious to send it to me so that I could make it for Jim here in Wisconsin."
