1 1/2 C. molasses
1 1/2 C. shortening
1 egg
5 T hot water
1 C. sugar
1 tsp. baking soda in water
1 T. cloves
1 T. cinnamon
1 tsp. lemon
Directions:
Directions:
Combine molasses, shortening, egg, hot water, sugar, baking soda, cloves, cinnamon, and lemon. Add enough flour to make a soft dough. Bake at 400º for 10 minutes.

Frosting: Powdered sugar, wet with milk and 1 tsp. lemon flavor.
