1 tsp. baking soda
1 c. sugar
¼ c. cocoa
¼ tsp. salt
1 c. water
6 tbls. melted shortening or cooking oil
1 tsp. vanilla
1 tbsp. vinegar

Heat oven to 350º
Grease a 9x9-inch pan

Mix all ingredients in one bowl.
Stir until well mixed.
Pour into prepared pan.
Bake for 25- 30 minutes

Double the recipe for a 9x13-inch cake.
