1 c butter, softened
1 1/4 c sugar
1 egg
2 1/2 c flour
1 1/2 tsp baking soda
1/8 tsp salt
1 c pecans, chopped
3/4 c candied fruit (fruit cake candies or cranberries will work)

Directions:
Directions:
In mixer, cream butter and sugar; add in egg. Combine the dry ingredients in a separate bowl, then gradually add to creamed mixture until dough forms. Mix in nuts and candied fruit. Shape dough into four 8 inch rolls and wrap each in plastic. Refrigerate cookie dough for at least four hours or overnight. Unwrap and cut into cookie slices and place on baking sheets. Bake in 350º oven for 8 minutes or until lightly browned. Remove and cool on wire racks. Makes several dozen cookies.
