Grandma's Shortbread Recipe

4 ½ cups of regular flour
½ cup rice flour
1 cup sugar
1 lb. butter (softened)

Directions:
Directions:
Combine all ingredients in a large bowl. Knead with hands. Put in
shortbread pan greased with a stick of butter. Cut every inch across
then at 3'', 6'', 9' and 12' down. Bake 350 degrees 35-40 minutes.
Remove cookies from pan shortly upon taking out of the oven.

This recipe requires a special "shortbread" pan.
You can borrow mine if you want to make them!

When Grandma was young, her family had a woman "Mrs. Goldie" that was a mother's helper to Grandma Madden.
Mrs. Goldie was Scottish and she taught Grandma how to make these cookies.
Grandma made them every year at Christmas and has only taught a few people how to make them.
