3/4 c. shortening
1 c. brown sugar (packed)
1 egg
1/2 c. applesauce
2 1/4 c. all purpose flour
1/2 tsp. soda
1/2 tsp. cinnamon
1/4 tsp. cloves
1 c. raisins
1/2 c.chopped nuts (optional)
Directions:
Directions:
Heat oven to 375. Mix shortening, sugar and egg thoroughly. Stir in applesauce. Measure flour by dipping method. Blend dry ingredients and stir in with first 4 ingredients. Mix in raisins and nuts. Drop dough by tsp. on greased baking sheet. Bake 10 to 12 minutes or until lightly brown. Makes 4 dozen.
