Ingredients:
1 1/2 C Warm Water
1 pkg Active Dry Yeast
1 T Sugar
2 t Salt
4 to 4 1/2 C Sifted Flour

Directions:
Directions:
Combine in a large bowl warm water, yeast, sugar and salt. Let stand 5 minutes. Mix well. Add gradually the flour to form a stiff dough, beating well after each addition. Place in a greased bowl and cover. Let rise in a warm place (85 to 90º) until light and doubled in size (about 1 1/2 hours). Toss lightly on well floured surface to coat dough with flour. Divide in half. Shape into 2 round loaves. Place in two 6 inch round casserole dishes which have been greased. Or place on a greased baking sheet. Let rise in a warm place until light and doubled in size, 45 to 60 minutes. Brush with slight beaten egg white. Bake at 400º for 40 to 45 minutes.

Personal Notes:
Personal Notes:
Grandma would pull off pieces to roll into balls for rolls, instead of making these into loaves. She also did not brush with the egg whites before baking. When they came out of the oven, she would lightly rub the tops with Crisco. These are a huge family favorite.
