5 cups flour
1 cup sugar
1 Tablespoon baking powder
1 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 cup butter
2 1/2 cups raisins
2 1/2 cups buttermilk
1 egg

Directions:
Directions:
Sift flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda and salt. Cut in butter with a pastry blender. Stir in raisins. Add buttermilk and egg to dry mixture.

Grease 2 loaf pans with butter. Pour batter into loaf pans. Bake in the oven at 350 degrees for 1 hour or until golden brown.
