Ingredients:
1/2 pound lasagna noodles (cook as directed)

MEAT SAUCE
2 T butter or margarine
1 onion, chopped
2 cloves garlic, chopped
1 pound hamburger
2 cans tomato paste
2 cups tomatoes
1 tsp salt
1/2 tsp pepper
1/2 tsp basil

Sugar

CHEESE SAUCE
1/4 cup butter or margarine
1/4 cup flour
1 tsp. salt
2 cups milk
2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese

Directions:
Directions:
Brown onion in oil, then add hamburger and cook till brown. Add other ingredients and cook for 30 minutes to season through.

For sauce, melt margarine and stir in flour and salt. Add milk and stir over medium heat until thick. Once it reaches boiling, cook for one more minute, stirring constantly to avoid sticking. Remove from heat, add cheese and stir till melted.

To assemble: Grease a 13x9 pan. Place noodles on the bottom. Cover with meat sauce and then cheese sauce. Bake in 350º oven for 30 minutes. Let stand for 10 minutes before cutting. May be refrigerated and baked later (bring to room temp and adjust time as needed). It can also be frozen.

Personal Notes:
Personal Notes:
As a kid, this was the only lasagna Barry and I had eaten, so we never knew that traditional lasagna was made with ricotta cheese. This dish has a different vibe ... like a pizza-style lasagna. Mom sometimes made this for our family Christmas Eve dinner, so I felt this recipe was a good one to share.
