1 cup butter, softened
2 cups sugar
3½ cups flour
½ tsp salt
3½ tsp baking powder
1 cup milk
1 tsp vanilla extract
1 tsp almond extract
7 or 8 egg whites
⅛ tsp salt

Directions:
Directions:
Cream butter and sugar. Sift cake flour before measuring. Resift twice with the salt and baking powder. Add flour mixture, alternating with milk. Beat smooth after each addition. Add vanilla and almond extract. Beat egg whites until stiff but not dry. Add ⅛ tsp salt to beaten whites. Fold egg whites lightly into cake batter. Pour batter into a greased 9 inch tub pan. Bake at 325 degrees for 1 hour or until cake tests done.

Ice with Special Occasion White Cake Frosting in this book.
