GAMMY'S SUGAR COOKIES Recipe

½ c. shortening
1 c. sugar
2 beaten eggs
2 T. milk
½ t. grated lemon rind
2 c. flour
½ t. baking soda
1 t. baking powder
½ t. salt
½ t. nutmeg
¼ t. cinnamon
Directions:
Directions:
1. Cream together shortening, sugar, eggs, milk and lemon rind.
2. Add dry ingredients to the creamed mixture.
3. Roll in balls and flatten with a glass.
4. Sprinkle with sugar.
5. Bake at 350º for 8-10 minutes on lightly greased cookie sheet.

All the cousins loved Gammy's sugar cookies! We couldn't wait to get to her house for those cookies.
One of my fondest memories is gathering around the piano at her house over the holidays, singing carols while Donna played for us.
