1/2 cup butter or margarine
4 tablespoons flour
3 cups milk
3/4 cup stevia sweetener
1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract
toasted bread and butter or margarine
strawberry spread

Directions:
Directions:
Melt the butter in a large saucepan over medium-high heat.
Remove it from the heat and whisk in the flour. Add the milk and return to the heat.
Add the stevia and cook, whisking, until the mixture boils. Whisk constantly and continue cooking the mixture for about 5 minutes.
Remove from the heat and whisk in the vanilla extract.
Allow to cool for around 10 minutes.
In the meantime, toast slices of bread spread them with butter or margarine and strawberry spread.
Place a slice of prepared toast in each bowl and pour the warm milk mixture over the bread, sprinkle with stevia, and serve.

I remember how surprised I was while on the way home from Marine boot camp to see Milk Toast on a small diner's menu, and how disappointed I was when a bowl of warm milk with pieces of toast in it was placed in front of me. Ordered eggs instead.
