2 eggs, beaten
1 cup brown sugar
1 cup lard
6 tbsp corn syrup
2 tsp baking sofa
1 tsp vanilla
Flour to make nice solid dough
Directions:
Directions:
Cream lard, add sugar, eggs, syrup and flavouring. Add dry ingredients, chill, preferably overnight. Roll thin, cut in rounds and bake on cookie sheet at 350º F until nicely browned. Cool. Fill with date filling similar to matrimonial cake filling or icing sugar mixture.
Date Filling:
1 cup chopped dates
1/2 cup brown sugar
1/4 cup water
Combine in saucepan. Boil gently until dates are mushy and mixture thickened.0
