¾ cup butter/margarine
1 cup brown sugar, firmly packed
½ cup sugar
2 eggs
1 tsp vanilla
2 cups flour
1/3 cup Ghiradelli unsweetened Cocoa
½ tsp baking soda
½ tsp salt
1 package Ghiradelli double chocolate chips
½ cup chopped walnuts or pecans

Directions:

1. Preheat oven to 350.

2. Melt butter in a medium-size saucepan over medium-low heat. Remove from heat and cool until warm. Stir in brown sugar, sugar, eggs, and vanilla. In a large bowl, mix flour, cocoa, baking soda, and salt; set aside.

3. Add butter mixture to dry ingredients and with wooden spoon mix just until blended. Stir in chocolate chips and nuts if desired. Drop by rounded teaspoonfuls about 2 inches apart onto cookie sheets.

4. Bake 9-12 minutes until cookies look dry, yet centers are still soft and puffy. Cool slightly before removing from cookie sheet to a cooling rack.
