1 cup butter
1 cup sugar
1 egg, separated
2 cups flour
1/2 tsp cinnamon
slivered almonds or walnuts, about a cup

Directions:

Mix butter, sugar, egg yolk and flour. Work dough until soft, like a pie dough. Divide in half.
Spread half on large ungreased cookie sheet. Make a long roll down the center and in spread with the palms of your hands. Pour on egg white-mixed with cinnamon-with fingers. Pour off excess onto the other half. One egg white should be enough but some water may be added. Sprinkle with almonds or walnuts.
Bake 325º oven until light brown, about 15-20 minutes. Cut while warm right out of the oven to avoid crumbling.
