2½ cups oatmeal
2 cups flour
½ tsp. salt
1 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. baking soda
1 cup unsalted butter, room temperature
1 cup granulated sugar
1 cup light brown sugar firmly packed
2 eggs
1 tsp. vanilla
12 oz. chocolate chips (2 cups)
1 (4 oz.) Hershey bar, grated
1 1/2 cups chopped nuts

Directions:

Preheat oven to 375 F.
In a medium bowl, mix together flour, oatmeal, salt, baking powder, and baking soda
Beat the butter and sugars, on medium-high speed, until well light and fluffy. Beat in the eggs and vanilla until well blended, scraping down the sides of the bowl as needed.
Add flour mixture; mix just until blended. Stir in chocolate chips, grated chocolate, and nuts, if using.
Roll into balls and place two inches apart on cookie sheet. Bake for 10 minutes.
Let cookies cool for 2 minutes on a baking sheet before transferring cookies to racks to cool completely.
