2 eggs - well beaten
1 cup sugar
¼ cup milk
1 tsp vanilla

3 cups flour
1 tsp soda
2 tsp cream of tartar
¼ tsp salt (optional)
1 cup shortening

Directions:
Directions:
Combine eggs, sugar, milk, and vanilla
In another bowl mix flour and other dry ingredients with shortening until crumbly.
Combine the two mixtures until well blended.

Chill dough - 2 hours or more

Roll out dough and cut into desired shapes. Decorate with colored sugars.
If cookies will be frosted (when cool), make the cookie a little thicker and do not decorate with sugar.

Cook at 375º
If cookies are about ¼ inch thick bake approximately 12-15 minutes
If cookies are thinner, bake approximately 8 minutes.
