Bottom of pan:
1 cup flour
3/4 teaspoon salt
3/4 cup sugar
2 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 cup cocoa
1/2 cup milk
1/2 cup chopped nut meats
1 teaspoon vanilla

Topping:
1/2 cup white sugar
1/2 cup brown sugar
4 Tablespoon cocoa
1 cup water

Preheat Oven to 325º F. Greased a 8 x 8 x 2 pan with butter or nonstick cooking spray.

Sift together flour, salt, sugar, baking powder, and cocoa. Add the milk, chopped nut meats, and vanilla. Mix and pour into a greased pan 8”x8”x2”.

For the topping mix white and brown sugar and cocoa and spread on top of batter evenly. Add one cup of water over all. Bake 40 at 325 degrees.
Serve with whipped cream or a thin slice of ice cream.

For the Bottom Layer:
In a medium sized mixing bowl, sift or whisked together flour, salt, sugar, baking powder, and cocoa. Add milk, chopped nut meats, and vanilla. Using a large spoon, mix all together. Batter will be stiff. Dump into the greased baking pan and spread evenly.

For the Topping:
In a small mixing bowl, mix together white sugar, brown sugar, and cocoa. Sprinkle evenly across the top. Pour one cup of water evenly over the whole dish. Bake in the oven for 40 minutes at 325º F. Let stand for 30 minutes. Serve warm. It will look like a lava cake when served. You can leave in the oven for 50 minutes for a more firmer middle. Serve with whipped cream or a scoop of vanilla ice cream.
