1 cup butter
1 cup sugar
1 egg
1 tsp vanilla extract
1 cup poppy seeds
2 1/4 cup flour
1/2 tsp cinnamon
1/4 tsp mace
1/4 tsp salt

Directions:
Directions:
In large mixing bowl with electric mixer at medium speed, cream butter and sugar. Beat in egg and vanilla until light and fluffy. In a medium bowl combine the remaining ingredients. Gradually add to creamed mixture and beat just until well blended. Divide dough in half.

On waxed paper, form each half into a roll 2 inches wide, 9 inches long. Wrap and chill at least 2 hours or overnight.

Preheat oven for 325º Grease 2 large cookie sheets. Cut dough into 1/4 inch thick slices. Place on cookie sheets and bake for 10-12 minutes or until golden brown at the edges.
