Granny's Cherry Soup Recipe

2 tablespoon butter
3 slices firm white bread
1 tablespoon flour
1 quart canned Black cherries, drained
Reserve the juice

Directions:
Directions:
Melt butter and add bread which has been cut in small cubes
Sauté until brown and crisp
Add flour and toss until well blended
Quickly add the reserved cherry juice
When mixture is slightly thickened, add the cherries
Heat until hot
Serve with a dab of whipped cream to make it special
Granny prefers to say add a huge dollop of whipped cream

This was a Granny favorite. We always canned black cherries from Uncle Lew.
I would come home from LCC and she would beg me to either go back into Longview for fish n' chips OR have the cherry soup.
I loved it also. I hope you will try it and then pass this recipe along. For Brenda & I this is family history
