1 pound ground beef
1 1/4 teaspoons salt
1/4 teaspoon ground black pepper
1 egg, lightly beaten
1/2 cup quick-cooking oats or bread crumbs

Topping
1/3 cup ketchup
2 tablespoons brown sugar
1 tablespoon prepared mustard

Directions:

Preheat oven to 375 degrees
Mix all meatloaf ingredients well
Shape into a loaf.
Loaf pan works best

Mix ingredients for topping and spread on loaf. Bake for 1 hour.

From Brenda: I loved meatloaf as a kid especially with the sauce recipe included. It was an inexpensive meal so we had it often. I certainly made a lot of meatloaf for the McKinney's and we slathered on the sauce. I still like to use the topping when baking.
Check out the tomato soup sauce. it is the best on meatloaf.
