1 cup shortening
1½ cup sugar
2 eggs
2¾ cups flour
2 teaspoons cream of tartar (spice)
1 teaspoon baking soda
½ teaspoon salt

2teasppons cinnamon
3 teaspoons sugar (for Christmas, use red or green sugar)

Directions:
Directions:
Mix shortening and sugar until creamy.
Add eggs.
Sift together dry mixture into creamed mixture and eggs.
Chill dough.
Make into balls about 1 inch round and roll into cinnamon and sugar mixture.
Place spread out on parchment paper lined or grease cookie sheet.
They spread out as they bake.
