1/2 C shortening
1 t vanilla
1/2 C sugar
1/4 C brown sugar
1 well beaten egg
1 1/2 C flour
1/2 t salt
1/2 t soda
8 oz chocolate chips
1/2 C nuts (optional)
Directions:
Directions:
Cream shortening, vanilla and sugars. Add egg and beat well. Sift flour, salt and soda.
Add to shortening mix. Beat until blended. Add chips and nuts. Drop teaspoon size onto greased cookie sheet. Bake at 375 degrees 11-12 minutes.

I use a Pampered Chef cookie scoop and bake closer to 12 min. Makes a thick cookie
We love the hint of salt!
