Papaw’s Oatmeal Cookies Recipe

2 cups butter (not margarine)
2 cups brown sugar
2 cups white sugar
4 eggs
2 tsp vanilla
Mix the above ingredients in a large bowl

4 cups flour
5 cups oatmeal
1 tsp salt
2 tsp baking soda
2 tsp baking powder
Mix together in a bowl and add to the dry ingredients

2-3 cups raisins
2-3 cups coconut
4 cups chopped pecans
Add to the batter and mix with hand

Preheat oven to 350 degrees
Make into golf ball size balls and place on ungreased cookie sheet. Bake for 15 minutes. Let cool in pan and take out in about 5-7 minutes. Makes 7-8 dozen cookies

Alternative for Chocolate Chip cookies
Grind oatmeal and replace raisins for chocolate chips. All other ingredients are the same. Bake at 375 for 11 minutes.
