24 marshmallows
1-3/4 c flour
1 c sugar
1/2 c cocoa
1/2 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 c shortening
1/2 evaporated milk
2 Tbs water
1 egg
1 tsp vanilla
1/2 c nuts( if desired)
Frosting
1 c semi sweet chocolate pieces
1/2 c evaporated milk
2-1/2 c powdered sugar

Preheat oven to 350º. Have 24 marshmallows cut in half.
Sift together flour, sugar, cocoa, baking soda, & salt. Add butter, milk, water,egg, and vanilla. Beat 3 minutes at low speed. Stir in nuts if desired. Drop by teaspoonful 2” apart onto greased cookie sheet.
Bake in center of oven 10 minutes. Take from oven and quickly place cut side of marshmallow on top of each cookie. Let stand until cool. Spoon 1-2 tsp of choc. Frosting over each cookie.
Frosting:
Stir over low heat: chips until melted, add 1/2 c milk. Take odd heat and add 2-1/2 c powdered sugar.

Variation: make cookies with cake mix cookies. Cake mix, 2eggs, & 1/2 oil. Mix, chill, bake at 350- 9-11 minutes.
Omit marshmallows frost and add coconut.
