Ingredients:
Ingredients:
2 c. flour
½ tsp. salt
1½ tsp. baking powder
¼ c. Crisco shortening
½ c. very warm water

Directions:
Combine all dry ingredients, adding water very slowly as you knead (using your hands!). Continue to knead for about 2 or 3 minutes. Stop and wash your hands!

When you come back with dry hands, knead the dough --- if it's still sticky, add "a little" more flour. Knead into a ball and cover with a warm damp towel. ACTUALLY, you put the towel over the bowl that you put all the ingredients in to begin with. Let it set for "awhile".

How long is "awhile" you ask? Well, this is the thing Grandma and all the rest of us never agreed upon, so let's just say on the counter for at least an hour or in the refrigerator for ½ an hour.

After that, tear off balls between the size of a ping-pong and a tennis ball, and roll just as you would a bunch of little pie crusts!!

I've never tried to cook them on anything other than an iron griddle, but I'm sure (almost) it will work on any type of surface. Brown on both sides and eat so you have the strength to clean all the flour out of your kitchen!!
