1 c. butter or shortening
3/4 c. brown sugar, packed
3/4 c. sugar
2 eggs
1 t. vanilla
2 c. flour
1 t. soda
2 c oatmeal
6 oz package chocolate chips

Directions:
Set oven at 350 degrees.
Cream shortening and sugars until fluffy. Use an electric mixer if available. Add eggs and vanilla and mix well. Add salt, flour, and soda. Stir in oatmeal, chocolate chips, and nuts. This will be a stiff dough.
Drop by teaspoons 2 inches apart on a greased cookie sheet. Bake until just firm and slightly browned, 10-12 minutes.
