1 c Butter
1 c Powdered Sugar
1 tsp Salt
2 tsp Vanilla
1 Egg
2½ c Flour
⅛ tsp Baking Powder

Directions:
Directions:
Cream butter, add sugar, egg, vanilla and flour which has been sifted with baking powder.
Roll into small balls and press down with a fork or something to make a figure on cookie.
You can place a cherry or nuts (a pecan) in the center for decorations.
Bake in oven at 350º-375º until edges are brown, about 12 minutes.

I can remember eating these cookies as a little girl. I'm not sure who made them first, my Grandma Pauline or Nora. They are one of my favorite cookies at Christmas time. The bright red maraschino cherry adds color to the cookie plate!
