⅓ cup shortening
⅓ cup butter
1 cup granulated sugar
1 cup brown sugar
2 eggs
2 tsp. vanilla
3 cups flour
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. salt
12 oz. semisweet chocolate chips

Directions:
Directions:
Heat oven to 375º. Mix thoroughly shortening, butter, sugars, eggs and vanilla. Stir in remaining ingredients.

Drop by rounded teaspoonfuls 2 inches apart onto ungreased baking sheet. Bake 8-10 minutes or until light brown. Cool slightly before removing from baking sheet.

Optional: exchange salted peanuts for some (or all) of the chocolate chips. Before baking, flatten each cookie with the bottom of a glass that has been dipped in sugar.
