1 cup fresh cranberries
1 Tbsp. sugar
2 cups sifted all purpose flour
3 tsp baking powder
1 tsp salt
½ cup sugar
¾ shortening
1 cup milk
1 egg

Directions:
Directions:
Cut cranberries in half. Sprinkle with 1 Tbsp. sugar. Combine flour, baking powder, salt, ½ cup sugar. Using a pastry blender cut in shortening until broken into fine particles. Mix milk and egg until well blended. Add to flour mixture. Stir gently just until dry ingredients are moistened to make lumpy batter. Gently fold in the sugared cranberries. Fill greased muffin cups 2/3 full. Bake in 400ºF oven for 20-25 minutes.
