Directions:
Scald 1.5 qt. milk in large pan
Mix together 1 c sugar and 3 rounded T corn starch.
Dissolve with a little milk.
Beat 7 extra large or 8 med/large eggs in a bowl.
When milk is heated, mix in sugar/starch thickener. Stir often to prevent burning - and stir until thick.
Mix in bit of hot thick milk to beaten eggs to temper. Then add all eggs to heated milk (be very careful to not cook the eggs - if chunky, you've done this step wrong) and cook until thick (coats spoon).
Turn off heat.
Add 2 T vanilla, mix.
Add 2.5 scant c sugar, mix.
Add quart of 1/2 & 1/2
Strain if necessary (only if milk is burnt/scalded) - put in freezer
Mix in 1/2 pint of whipping cream and 1 quart of 1/2 & 1/2 to freezer container. Put in fridge/chill until ready to churn.

Personal Notes:
This ice cream was made every 4th of July from the time I can remember. The Moons Grabills, Dudleys and assorted others were always there.
